Bruce Linton - Chairman of the Board
As the co-founder of Tweed, Bruce’s primary focus has been to position the brand in a competitive market and to raise the capital necessary to fund such an operation. Bruce’s extensive experience as a founder, CEO, and Board member across a wide variety of enterprises lends itself well the to the success of Tweed, which to date has enjoyed market support for capital raises of approximately $52 million. In addition to his current position at Tweed, Bruce is the CEO of communications company Martello Technologies. After beginning his career at Newbridge Networks Corporation, he has since held positions that include General Manager and Re-Founder of Computerland.ca, President and Co-Founder of webHancer Corp, and part of the establishing team at CrossKeys Systems Corporation. Bruce has been responsible for the acquisition and/or disposition of over $100 million in business assets, and has established regular engagement with the World Bank and Asia Development Bank while focused on markets in India, Philippines, China, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Bruce led the successful entry of both CrossKeys and Clearford into the Chinese market. In 2009 Clearford was awarded by the Canada-China Business Council for its market entry strategy. He was also part of the leadership team for the Nasdaq/TSX initial public offering at CrossKeys Systems Corporation. Bruce currently sits as Canada’s representative on the World Bank’s Water Sanitation Program. He has been on the Cleantech Advisory Board for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada. He is the past Chairman of the Ottawa Community Loan Foundation, past Board Member and Treasurer of Canada World Youth, past Board of Governor for Carleton University, past President of the Nepean Skating Club and past President of the Carleton University Students Association.
John K. Bell, FCPA, FCA, ICD.D - Director
Mr. John Bell founded Shred-Tech and grew it into a global giant in the mobile document shredding and recycling industry. After selling Shred-Tech in 1995, he purchased Polymer Technologies and grew it from a local plastics manufacturer to a global auto parts company before exiting in 2007. John also served as interim CEO and director of ATS Automation (TSX), which operates 24 global manufacturing facilities, has 4,000 employees and $700 million in sales during a time of management and board renewal in 2007. John was the lead investor and Chairman of BSM Wireless (TSX-V). First investing in 2006, he led board and management renewal leading to substantial and profitable growth before successfully exiting in 2014. John also sits on the Board of Strongco Corp, traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange as SQP and DelMar Pharmaceuticals, which is traded on OTCQX as DMPI.
Larry Poirier - Director
Mr. Larry Poirier was Chief Executive Officer of LW Capital a Capital Pool which merged with Tweed in March 2014. He was the founder and CEO of Nitro Microsystems before the company was acquired in 2012 by TUC Brands. Mr. Poirier later served as President of TUC. Mr. Poirier was also a founder of N-able Technologies Inc., a firm which was acquired by SolarWinds (SWI: NYSE) for $120M US in 2013. Mr. Poirier has been an early stage investor and an advisor with a number of other start-up companies. Mr. Poirier has served as Canadian Chairman of the VentureTech Network, the Canadian IT Providers Association and was voted the Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Ottawa in 1999. Mr. Poirier has a Queen's University MBA in Finance.
Chris Schnarr, ICD.D - Director
Mr. Chris Schnarr is the Chief Financial Officer at Delivra Inc., a company involved in the development and sale of transdermal products and technologies for the topical delivery of pharmaceutical and natural molecules. Mr. Schnarr has 25 years of experience founding, managing, and advising growth companies, including strategy, corporate finance, capital markets, corporate development, M&A, financial reporting, and governance. His functional experience across executive positions spans Treasurer, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, President, and Chief Executive Officer. His broad industry experience includes technology (hardware, software, and services), communications, agriculture, food processing and food ingredients, financial services, health care, and sustainability. Mr. Schnarr has 18-years of public company Board experience across TSXV and TSX listed companies, as well as extensive committee experience. He is presently a Director and Chair of the Audit Committee and member of the Governance and Compensation Committees of Legumex Walker Inc. (TSX:LWP). Mr. Schnarr holds a Masters in Business Administration (finance) from University of British Columbia (1990), and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a Minor in Economics, from Wilfrid Laurier University (1989). He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, a graduate of the Directors Education Program at the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto, and holds the ICD.D designation.
Andrew Moffat - Independent Director
Since 2004, Keshet has assisted up-and-coming IT businesses and entrepreneurs with financing and strategic guidance. Prior to Keshet, Mr. Moffat was a founder and the Chief Executive Officer of EDUCOM TS Inc. Prior to EDUCOM’S sale, Mr. Moffat led EDUCOM to establish a global network of approximately 70 resellers, representing 100+ certified technicians and 200+ sales people. Mr. Moffat was able to build a global client list of over 800 clients, many of whom are industry leaders in their own right. He strategically aligned himself with industry giants, such as IBM and Microsoft, as well as working with a number of Global 2000 companies. Mr. Moffat is committed to working closely with the community. He supports a number of children’s and women’s programs and sits on the board of directors of the Canadian Advanced Technologies Association. Mr. Moffat is an Entrepreneur in Residence at Invest Ottawa - a member of the Ontario Network of Excellence. Through his leadership, dedication, and creativity, Mr. Moffat made a positive impact on the information and communications technology industry while serving in the Canadian Forces.
Deborah Weinstein - Corporate Secretary
Ms. Weinstein is a founding partner of LaBarge Weinstein Professional Corporation, a business law firm formed in 1997. Prior to founding LaBarge Weinstein, Ms. Weinstein was a former Managing Partner of the Ottawa office of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. Ms. Weinstein’s practice encompasses the representation of emerging growth companies, established public and private technology businesses in both day-to-day and transactional matters, venture capital funds and investment bankers. She has over 20 years of experience in corporate finance and business law representation of public and private companies, primarily in knowledge-based growth industries, and over 10 years of Board of Directors experience on NYSE, Nasdaq, TSX and TSX-V listed companies. Having represented innovative issuers and underwriters in numerous Canadian and U.S. public offerings, including JDS Fitel Inc. (now JDS Uniphase Corporation) (TSX:JDU), GSI Lumonics Inc., JetForm Corporation and MOSAID Technologies Limited, Ms. Weinstein has substantial experience in venture capital and other private financing transactions. Ms. Weinstein has taken the lead role in over 100 mergers and acquisitions of public and private companies, including the sale of companies to Cisco, Microsoft, RIM, PMC-Sierra and Alcatel. Ms. Weinstein holds a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School.
