Meet the Grower-
Started at Tweed: July 21, 2014
Job Title: Production Assistant
When Tweed first opened its doors in his backyard, Ian was convinced a lack of horticulture experience would disqualify him from a position with the budding company. Nearly three years later, he’s one of the longest-serving members of the team in Smiths Falls, and he couldn’t be happier with the course his career has taken since starting here.
Where he once had to work up to three jobs to round out his income – installing pools full-time while landscaping and delivering pizzas in the off-season – Ian says Tweed has given him the freedom to spend more time at home with his family. He also now has more free time for the golf course, where he scored a hole-in-one last summer!
From three flowering rooms, a trim and Mother Room, Ian has watched Tweed morph from a start-up to a world leader in the cannabis space. While many of his peers have switched roles and moved departments, he’s stayed as steady as the light cycle in the Mother Room, helping to develop many of the operating procedures employed on a daily basis there. In future, he hopes to become a manager on the production side of the organization.
The Proust Questionnaire
This next section of our Meet the Grower Feature is based on the Proust Questionnaire – It’s an interview style commonly used by James Lipton on Inside the Actors Studio as well as Vanity Fair. The Proust Questionnaire is designed to strip away the fat and reveal one’s true character.
What is your greatest fear? Bears.
Which living person do you most admire? My son, Atticus. He’s changed my outlook on life.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? Finding a good woman to share my life with, and start a family with.
Who is your hero of fiction? Bilbo Baggins.
Which talent would you most like to have? Probably being able to dance. Something about loud music – it just freezes me.
Which historical figure do you most identify with? Henry Wallace.
What is your idea of perfect happiness? Travelling the world with my family. We’d start as far away as possible in New Zealand, and work our way back.
What is your greatest extravagance? I spend too much money on golfing.
What is your most treasured possession? No physical possession is overly important to me. If I lost everything I have right now, I’d be OK with that.
What is your motto? Love it!
What is your favorite strain? Sunset from the Leafs By Snoop collection.
Would you rather visit Colorado or Amsterdam? That’s a tough one, but probably Amsterdam, because it’s in Europe.
What is your most useful sense when working? Sight.
What would you be doing if you weren’t doing this? I’d probably have my own landscaping or pool company by now.
