Meet the Grower-

Name: Julie
Age: 29+ ;)
Started at Tweed: August 25, 2014
Job Title: Section Grower

The mix of science and horticulture is nothing new to Julie Brais. Over a 30-year growing career, she has time and again exercised her passion for both to great results. As a valued member of our production team, Julie has spent the last two years helping grow Tweed from a seedling of a start-up to a flourishing young enterprise.

She started working in greenhouse operations at age 14 and hasn’t looked back since. Julie studied horticulture at Niagara College and holds a Bachelor of Science with a major in biology from Queen’s University. After completing her placement for the biotech program at St. Lawrence College with Performance Plants, she was hired by the company to grow canola for research purposes. Some of the grow methods she employed there have been featured in journals like Science.

At Tweed, Julie’s days have been spent proving true what she pitched in her job interview– that she can grow anything, and well. She has brought a wealth of experience to the grow rooms here and her transition from canola to cannabis has been a natural one that has benefitted the entire production team. In the future, Julie plans to continue on the front lines of this budding industry with her hands in the dirt.
